By sponsoring high school or college tuition and living expenses, generous families have brightened the fate of talented but poor teens from all over the CIS. Without a higher education in the States or Israel, these children likely would have grown up to struggle in the most economically disadvantaged strata of their home societies. Moreover, the children’s affinity for Judaism would have lain dormant. With an opportunity to attend Jewish school the children develop a love and understanding of their heritage. Careful matching of students with sponsors who have similar goals encourages the development of a warm relationship between the student and his or her American “family.” Students on this program have made their American families proud by graduating from Stern College, Yeshiva University High School, Chanoch Lenaar, Rabbinical College of America, and other yeshivas and high schools in the United States and in Israel.
